The gold of Khan Kubrat: Malaya Pereshchepina treasure (St Petersburg, Hermitage)
Translation from Russian into Bulgarian by Maria Pandulcheva
Original title: Сокровища хана Кубрата. Перещепинский клад
In the summer of 1912 a treasure dating from the time of the nomadic migrations was accidentally found in the neighbourhood of Poltava (village of Malaya Pereshchepina, Eastern Ukraine). The hoard consists of more than 800 items (gold- and silver-plated metal vessels, weapons and parts of horse harness and belt sets, jewelleries with inlaid glass and precious gemstones and 69 gold Byzantine coins). Probably the treasure belonged to Proto-Bulgarian Khan Kubrat (ca. 605 — ca. 665).
