   The book examines the history of Bulgarian linguistics — from the heritage of the Bulgarian Learned Society, founded in 1869, to the present days. Preference is given in the description of the institutional and personal achievements in the field of research in the Bulgarian language of the Bulgarian Learned Society and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. They are the pillars of Bulgarian studies in all its varieties: linguistics, dictionary creation, folklore, literature, history and culture. Most of the essays are dedicated to Bulgarian grammatical historiography. The book also contains essays on some of the most prominent Bulgarian and foreign scholars in the field of contemporary Bulgarian linguistic studies.
