   The treasure of Khan Kubrat, discovered near the village of Malaya Pereshchepina (Poltava Province, Ukraine), is the largest known treasure from the Early Middle Ages. It contains over 800 items. The weight of the gold artifacts in it exceeds 25 kg, and the silver  50 kg. The founder of Old Great Bulgaria, Khan Kubrat, was a skilled statesman. He managed to unite the Bulgar's tribes north of the Caucasus and the Black Sea and turn them into a factor on the international scene, recognised by thе powerful Byzantine and Persian empires.
