The book examines the propaganda practices in Bulgarian cinema during the period 1944—1989. The monograph aims to examine the mechanisms, means and institutions through which propaganda is carried out in Bulgarian cinema. The study analyzes how cinema has been used as a means of spreading and enforcing the ideological norms of power for the purpose of manipulation. The monograph focuses on the leading institutions and main mechanisms used to advance communist ideology. Specific examples are given with commissioned films that become an emanation and a vivid example of the use of cinema as a tool to impose a specific policy. Such are the TV program "1300 Years of Bulgaria" or the film "Time of Parting".
