Cultural and Political Geography of the Middle East. Book One: Syria
Културна и политическа география на Близкия изток. Книга първа: Сирия
Category: Arabian Studies
Languge: Bulgarian

The Middle East is one of the world's cradles of civilization, a crossroads of peoples, religions, and cultures between Africa, Asia, and Europe, a global ideological center, a geopolitical hub, and the object of strategic interests of external power centers. It is here that iconographic concepts and messages of global significance originate, such as the Apocalypse, Armageddon, Babylon, Jericho, Moses, Mohammed, the Flood, Semiramis, Phoenicia, Scheherazade, Sumer, Christ, and others. The book focuses primarily on the complex (natural, sociocultural, economic, political, etc.) geographical basis of the Middle East conflict. A specific feature that enhances the geopolitical significance of the region is its crossroads location combined with the configuration of political borders, vast energy resources, extreme natural environment, etc.
