   The subject of the study is the xylographic booklet Canticum canticorum, created around 1465. The edition consists of thirty-two narrative scenes inspired by the Song of Songs. The only text in it are short quotations in Latin that accompany the figures. Oddly, these extracts do not follow the sequence of the biblical text. Thus, without a title and clear interpretive keys, the modern scholar is faced with the challenge of reconstructing the visual narrative and gaining insight into its meaning.
