The book contains biographical data about 125 generals from the Third Bulgarian Kingdom. The emphasis is on their participation in creating of the Bulgarian Army and their involvement in five wars in which Bulgaria fought in the period 1878—1946. Among the founders of the Bulgarian army, some of whom later reached the rank of general, are the names of participants in the April Uprising (1876) and in the national liberation struggles of the Bulgarian Revival Period; volunteers in the Serbo-Turkish War (1876); participants in the Russo-Turkish War (1877—1878); there are many who took part in the Serbo-Bulgarian War (1885) and in the wars for national liberation and unification (1912—1918), as well as a significant number of participants in the Second World War (1945).
The edition is looking at personalities who laid the foundation of the Bulgarian army — to the generals: known or little known, popular or forgotten, those who served Bulgaria in war and peace, stood at the head, but also those who shared the difficulties with their army; the ones who made mistakes and accused of mistakes, tried with guilt and without guilt, arrested and killed...
