The Bulgarians in Istanbul between reforms and revolution (18751877)
Langage: Bulgarian with summary in English

The current study is dedicated to the ideological and political acts of Bulgarians in Istanbul during the last few decisive years before the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule in 1878. In the middle of the nineteenth century the Bulgarian community in the sultans’ capital became an important cultural and political centre, which played a leading role in the movement of enlightenment, the struggle for autonomous Bulgarian church and the cultural development of the Bulgarians within the boundaries of the Ottoman Empire. During the years of the Eastern Crisis (18751878) among that Bulgarian community new political tendencies started to crystallize and take ever more distinct shapes, finding realization both in and out of the country. It is those tendencies that are the focal point of presetented research.
