Zhuangzi and Neo-Daoism (Xuanxue)
Джуандзъ и неодаоизмът (сюенсюе)

Xuanxue (mystical teaching) — a syncretic reinterpretation of Taoist metaphysics — is the greatest reflexive challenge that ancient Chinese thought poses to us. Neo-Daoism dominated the cultural circles of the Wei-Jing era, uniting spontaneity (nature — 自然 — “zizhang”), changeability (the Book of Changes — 易经 — “yijin”), and the Confucian cult of knowledge (the system of ranks — 名教 — “mingjiao”).
Zhuangzi’s parables of the sage and the Way, as well as Laozi’s vision of the nonexistent and the nameless (the root — 本 — “ben”), charted the paths that philosophy would take during the Six Dynasties (220—589). Xuanxue had a profound influence on the establishment of Buddhism in China and on Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming dynasties.
The discussions about abilities and human nature (the dispute about talent and character) set previously unexplored directions in the field of Taoist studies, and Gu Hong's "Baopuzi" (抱朴子) opens new interpretative horizons in the face of the ambiguous impenetrability and deep mystery of Tao.
This book analyzes for the first time in our country the ontological theories of Guo Xiang and Wang Bi, the concept of human nature of Liu Shao (人物志 - "Ren wu zhi") and the aesthetic rebellion of the seven sages of the bamboo grove. Zhuang Zi, He Yen, Xiang Xiu are known for the intellectual criticism of their time, the poetry of mountains and waters and the philosophy of freedom, which is a precedent in the spiritual atmosphere of Ancient China.
