   In the decade 1977—1986, six editions of the International Writers' Meetings were held in Sofia. A total of 880 names of artists from 78 countries have been recorded. Cultural communication created the necessary dynamic balance between the two social systems in the 1970s and 1980s. In the context of the Sofia writers' meetings, the concept of "cultural diplomacy" appears. Today, it is a basic term for alternative practices in the direction of calming regional and international confrontation.
