The catalogue presents one of the largest silver Roman treasures in the collections of the Louvre Museum. Boscoreale is located in Italy, in the region of Mt. Vesuvius. The treasure was hidden in the Roman villa della Pisanella buried under the deluge of volcanic ash in AD 79. The thirty items presented in the catalogue are part of the set  vessels for eating and drinking, complemented by a pair of gold earrings. The world-famous Africa is among them. The finds impress with their exquisite craftsmanship and are valuable source for the cultural development during the Roman period.
