Gurbani or ”Thus Spoke Guru“. Anthology of Medieval Sikh poetry
Гурбани, или „Тъй рече гуру“. Антология на сикхската поезия
Translation into Bulgarian by Aleksandar Elizarev
Category: Indology
The book aims to acquaint the Bulgarian reader with the phenomenon of Sikh religiously-philosophical thought, as well as the charm of medieval Indian poetry. The selected texts are the work of the Sikh incarnate teachers, through which the transcendent Sat-guru, the divine mentor, speaks. They are also contained in the sacred scripture of the Sikhs, which in itself has the status of Guru. It is called through the language of poetry - clear to the mind, but also to the heart and soul.
The compiler, at the same time translator and author of the introduction of the book, Alexander Elizarev, studied Hindu, Sanskrit, Urdu and Persian Hinduism at the Lomonosov State University of Moscow. Later, he studied Punjabi at the Pattian University in Punjab, India. This book is the result of his long-standing research and hard work on Sikh Sacred texts.
