A Pilot of the Great War
Пилот от Голямата война
Language: Bulgarian
Category: Bulgaria during the World War I
Gen. Georgi Popvasilev (1893—1991) was one of the outstanding fighter pilots of the First World War, who made numerous attacks against the Allied forces on the Macedonian Front. After the war he continued to fly and serve in the Bulgarian Air Force, holding senior commanding positions. Despite his difficult biography, he reached the rank of Major General (1947) and managed to fly on over 50 types of aircraft, of which 15 German, 7 French, 2 English and 12 Bulgarian. The book is based on memories and refers to the experience of General Popvasilev in the early and most turbulent stage of his flying biography — from 1916 to 1919. The described events complete the picture of the fighting of the Bulgarian and German aircraft over the Macedonian front.
