The last three decades have witnessed a huge increase of ancient artefacts brought to the light by metal-detecting investigations. The biggest benefit of involving this technique for the national archaeology and cultural heritage is the identification of new areas with a high archaeological potential. Furthermore, territories that were previously blank spots on the archaeological map are now filling up fast. Such is the case of the northern area of the village of Peştiş, Bihor County, NW Romania. The metal-detecting activity on the upper part of the Peștiș Valley led to the finding of numerous artefacts. In October 2018, a Roman coin hoard of 379 silver coins was discovered by metal detecting and became the topic of a dedicated monograph –the hoard Peştiş I. OnFebruary 2019, a Late La Tene silver brooch was found on the top of a hill, in the area of the Peştiş Hill by metal detectorists in the woods between the villages of Peștiș and Tinăud. On August 1, 2020, one km north-east from the findspot of hoard Peştiş I, following another metal-detecting campaign another hoard came to the light on August 1, 2020.
