     The book is dedicated to the greartest catastrophe in Classical Antiquity — the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius resulting in a destruction of the prosperous Roman city of Pompeii (79 AD). By following the last hours of some of it’s inhabitants who really existed the author discusses the terrible natural disaster that befell Pompeii.
