The monograph analyzes the functioning of the comedy genre in the system of ideas, forms and genre classifications of Bulgarian literature in the 19th century. Through a focus on the specifics and structural features of Bulgarian comedy, its typological features are summarized: belonging to the Balkan and European forms of the comic and originality - connection with folk culture, reception and adaptation of current ideological concepts, development of nationally significant genre models. By analyzing modern Bulgarian revival plays from the 1860s and 1870s compositional solutions and ideas emblematic of pre-modern and modern European trends are revealed.
