   Kabiyuk is a complex of mounds and archaeological sites around them. It is located in the lands of Konyovets village, 12 km northeast of town of Shumen and 10 km west of archaeological site Pliska. In the beginning of XX century there have been found remains of an early medieval stronghold and settlement. After the researches made at one of the mounds there was discovered a tomb of young man buried with his ceremonial belt (adorned with silver accessories). In the grave were found also two gold earrings, short iron sword, parts of horse armor and silver ornaments of horse-trappings. This is the first tomb of proto-Bulgarian aristocrat, discovered in Bulgaria and there is hope and suggestion that Kabiyuk is the place where the Bulgarian khans were buried.
