   The main object of study is a subfield of sociolinguistics called perceptual sociolinguistics. Perceptual sociolinguistics is interested not in the speaker, but in the listener, in his evaluations of the speaker, in recognizing various socio-demographic characteristics of the speaker based on his speech.
