   The publication includes a study by Ivan Shishmanov (1862—1928), as well as excerpts from the descriptions of Western travelers such as Salomon Schweigger (1578), Melchior Besolt (1584), Adam Werner (1616), Paul Taferner (1665), Saviour Lusignan (1786) and Count Ferrières-Sauveboeuf (1788) about the main Roman road at the Balkans known as Via Militaris or Via Diagonalis.
