The book explores the roads to the Liberation and creation of an independent, modern state before the Russo-Turkish War of 1877—1878 and beyond. After the Treaty of Berlin in 1878, the roads to the liberation for the five parts of the Bulgarian land were divided. The ideal of Liberation, i.e. for the creation of a unitary, modern and independent Bulgarian state was finally formed in Bulgarian society in the third quarter of the nineteenth century. And since it did not take place in 1878—1879, it continued to be pursued in subsequent years, but with significant changes conditions. Therefore, the roads to the Liberation did not end in 1878—1879 or 1913, much less in 1919.
