Saga of the Balkan War: Diary of the priest Ivan Dochev
Language: Bulgarian
Category: Balkan Wars
This original diary of the Balkan War is written on the front by the military priest Ivan Dochev. The author is a participant in the war and the events chronicled are recorded daily. The descriptions of villages in Eastern Thrace are authentic; they contain data on the number of houses, the traditional culture, the behavior of the local population. Of particular interest is the description of entry into Edirne after its takeover — the attitudes towards foreign cultural heritage such as the famous Selimiye Mosque, the behavior of Turkish and Greek communities in the city, meetings with the Russian consul and others.
