     Varna and Preslav Metropolitan Simeon is Bulgarian metropolitan bishop (1840—1937). He is an active participant in the Bulgarian Revival and the Church National Struggle movement, the youngest Metropolitan of the Bulgarian Exarchate, who ruled his diocese for 65 years. After the Liberation, he was one of the "builders of modern Bulgaria", statesman and enlightener, chairman of the Third National Assembly (1882—1883); publicist, scholar-Hellenist, translator, regular (1884) and honorary member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1923).
