   The encyclopedia presents at a first place the local revolutionary committees, which have the direct responsibility for organizing and conducting the uprising, as well as the organization and activities of the various detachments. The book also includes the wide response of the uprising in neighboring and other European countries, press, etc., the various commissions of inquiry, which visit the affected villages and get acquainted with the atrocities committed by the Ottoman authorities against the insurgents. The main revolutionary figures — Georgi Benkovski, Panayot Volov, Stefan Stambolov, Ilarion Dragostinov, and a large number of others who appeared as voivodes of various detachments — Stoil Voivoda, Bacho Kiro, priest Hariton, Hristo Patrev and Hristo Botev were also examined.
