     Atlantis is a myth of a society that sinks into itself without external reason. This type of internal disintegration is the central theme of the proposed analysis. Atlantis is one of many stories about extinct societies. It resembles the myths of Sodom and Gomorrah, which also implode because of divine punishment. But the Atlantis story is more representative of European cultural history. The book presents five profiles of political bodies that disintegrate or carry a high risk of disintegration: USSR/Russia, Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Macedonia and the European Union.
