God with a Machine: Taking Man Out
Бог с машина. Изваждане на човека
Language: Bulgarian
Category: Literature
The book offers a parallax view — utopian and anti-utopian — of the problem of man in the two-hundred-year history of the artificial being. Man is defined as a paradox formulated in the following two ways: Man is a being who wants to be human and Man is a being who does not want to be human. The coincidence of the desire and unwillingness to be human is a characteristic of man, who is therefore inevitably transhuman: a restless "quadrangle" involving the animal, the robot and the god.
The book relies on many authors after Hoffman and Mary Shelley, among whom a special place is occupied by Stanislav Lem. Departing from Agamben, the book insists that the modern anthropological machine operates in a comic and/or disturbingly strange mode of reduplication with the robot. Will the man in the machine be taken out and what will happen to the man then? This is the question of our age.
