The study is devoted to the rich onomastic material from the region of Popovo, Northeastern Bulgaria. The onomastic material is subjected to phonetic, morphological, word-forming, semantic and etymological analysis. The books contains dictionary of toponyms in Popovo region, which includes complete data about the spatial and geographic characteristics of the sites. It provides a scholarly explanation of the origins of each toponym. The work contributes to the clarification of the ethnogenesis of Popovo population. The toponymy of this region testifies to the ancient Slavic Bulgarian population, as well as to Proto-Bulgarian and Pecheneg-Kuman superstrate in it.
