Cult and Hymnography Services of Local South Slavonic and Balkan Saints in 13th15th Century Manuscripts. Author: Radoslava Stankova. Language: Bulgarian with summary in English

The work aims to present the complexity of the description of the emergence and development of the different types of cults among South Slavs. The cults to Christian saints are various in origin (Slavonic or adopted), in rank (common Christian or local, Bulgarian or Balkan) and in function (guardians or warriors, anchorites, reverends or hierarchs, martyrs or wonderworkers). The hymnographic text about the saints have been given lead role because they are the main pillar of the church ritual. Without the hymnographic composition the celebration of even a single church feast or a saint commemoration would not be possible.
The main goal of the current work is to systematise the research and results on this topic, done so far and organise them in a new way. The hitherto unstudied question of the multi-stage versions of the services has been discussed, based on a review and summary of the current state of the publications on that subject. The database of written evidence has been extended, introducing new found copies and versions of the studied texts in hitherto unstudied manuscripts. Based on examples from specific works the changes, the versions and the history of certain hymnographic works about the chosen saints have been outlined.
