The Second Bulgarian Kingdom in War and Peace
Второто българско царство във война и мир
Category: Second Bulgarian Kingdom
Language: Bulgarian
The book presents a different view of the wars of Medieval Bulgarian history in the period 12th—14th centuries. The author does not seek to repeat the well-known sequence of events, but to bring out the main trends in the military-political ideology of the Bulgarian rulers. Attention is drawn to the attempt to correct the chronology of some wars with the help of new evidence and re-reading of the sources. The book sheds light on the complex political relations in the European Southeast and how the Kingdom of Tarnovo meets the claims of Byzantium, the Latin Empire, Hungary and Serbia, as well as the skillful diplomatic game of Tsar Kaloyan towards papal Rome.
