Methodology for the scholarly investigation of Thracian Architecture: Analyses, interpretation, symbolism
Language: Bulgarian with a summary in English

The book proposes a scholarly methodology for the investigation of architectural structures uncovered during archaeological excavations; it further illustrates how this methodology can be used for the study and analysis of Thracian architecture. The book discusses architectural examples in terms of their construction, function, execution and interior and exterior decoration. Architectural structures are examined and interpreted in the context of the scientific, technical and technological knowledge of the ancient architects who created them. The cultural, historical, political and social contexts are defined and considered as key influences on architecture in antiquity. The book dwells especially on the connection between Thracian cult architecture and ancient philosophical schools and teachings.

The author argues that only the joint effort of scholars from different disciplines, especially of archaeologists and architects, can resolve the many questions raised by Thracian architecture. The proposed methodology than paves the way for this needed multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to the study and analysis or architecture uncovered during archaeological excavations. The methodology can be used as the basis for collaborations between architects, historians, art historians, archaeologists, engineers, astronomers, geologists, geodesists, chemists and biologists whose collective expertise will shed light on architecture as an end product of a specific culture, political system or economic structure of a given society.
