Missing Universities: An Introduction to a Sociology of Failure
Изчезналите университети. Въведение към една социология на неуспеха
Language: Bulgarian
Does it make sense to delve into the "backyard" of societies and deal with phenomena that history itself has already rejected? Examining several closed universities, the authors argue that understanding the conditions and causes of the failure can help both understanding social life and the specifics of a particular failed social phenomenon. From this perspective, the failure of the university ventures in Arezzo, Vercelli, Treviso and Florence in medieval Italy and the Free University in 1930—1940 in Bulgaria proved to be a mirror of social reality in these societies and a cognitive "key" to discovering of the university as type of social institution.
