Language: Bulgarian with summary and list of illustrations in English
Category: Christian art (15th—18th c.)
The subject of this study are the oldest iconostases (16th—18th century) from churches in Bulgaria. The chronological boundaries are traced out by the surviving monuments. During that period iconostases had their own specific features which differ from these during the period of the Bulgarian National Revival (18th—19th century). The aim of this work is to give a better understanding to these specific features in regard to various problems: the composition, the iconographic program, the repertoire of the ornaments.
