     The monograph offers a historical view on the life, scholarly and literary work of Omar Khayyam (1048—1131). It gives landmarks that help to enter the multi-layered Eastern philosophy and poetics and in a variety of rationalist philosophical and religious teachings that have influenced the poet's perceptions and have been reflected in his works. A special section analyzes the existing translations of Khayyam's quatrains in Bulgarian.
