Bulgarian-Yugoslav Political Relations (February 1947 — October 1956)
Българо-югославските политически отношения
Category: Contemporary Balkan History
Language: Bulgarian
As a result of the Second World War, two countries with diametrically opposite weight and importance in international politics stand against each other. This logically determines their opportunities on the diplomatic scene. And behind the common ideology and "deep feelings" of "friendship and brotherhood" there are pragmatic goals and interests. The behavior of Bulgaria and Yugoslavia is influenced by the external Soviet factor. Behind the screen of "ideological unity", the architects of Soviet policy sought to model bilateral relations according to their strategy of influence and dominance in South-Eastern Europe. Thus, the complex tangle of created historical circumstances, power ambitions, political aspirations and ideological dependencies set in motion the processes that determine the direction of the Bulgarian-Yugoslav political relations and the development of the key Macedonian question.
