   The book provides a broad view of global processes in the field of journalism and media, as well as an overview of regional specifics in the development of media systems. Focusing attention on the fluidity of different media systems, this work also issues a warning — that freedom of speech and media independence as a mandatory element of democracy are not guaranteed values and require systematic protection and upholding in the local contexts of different media models, even in those we are accustomed to consider immune.
