The Pilgrimage of Etheria (Peregrinatio ad loca sancta)

    Etheria was a nun from Gallia who made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land between 381 and 384 AD. The account of her journey (“Peregrinatio Aetheriae”) has been preserved in an incomplete manuscript from the 11th century. The text presents the earliest description of a Christian pilgrimage.
