   This edition brings together eighteen authors who declared their presence in Bulgarian poetry around the 1980s. Dividing by decades is hardly the most complete approach to literary processes. Such concepts are imposed because in literary and cultural life there are sign zones, which, of course, are not exactly decades. Decades are conditional designations that reflect the importance of a historical period in culture, politics, the life of society — a period in which all these fields intersect with particular intensity. Something is changing in the great human community — something central and essential to its whole being. And culture is the most visible screen of these changes. And among the arts, poetry emerges as the most effective expressor. Such a "decade" is the 1980s in Bulgarian literature. And it is precisely the poetic voices of that time that form one of its most characteristic registers of meaning.
