   The author investigates the relationship between the conceptual and linguistic categorization of objects as a cognitive process reflected in the grammatical classes and categories of nouns in the modern Bulgarian language. The conceptual categorization of subject matter is seen as an evolutionary cognitive process that is in a complex relationship with grammatical categorization because the noun system in Bulgarian reflects not only contemporary cognitive patterns but also the history of knowledge of the subject world.
