The New Garden of Eden: Communicating with the Ideal in the Age of Digital Media
Новата градина. Общуване с Идеала в епохата на дигиталните медии
Category: Cinema/Theatre; Cultural studies
Language: Bulgarian
The impetus for the replacement of reality by humanity, fundamentally dissatisfied with its existence, reaches its emanation in cinema and its subsequent forms of screen communication. The evolution in this process is traced through the prism of communication with the Ideal and the mythologems that serve it. The author analyses the stages and dynamics of this communication in the course of the history, the processes of deification, rejection, primitivization and magnification, as well as the reaching of a turning point in the digital age — the drive to simulacrum; the pursuit of the death of the original and the destruction of the human, experienced as a supreme aesthetic pleasure. The study explores the transformation of the well-known Eden myth into its synthetic copy and the eternal, marked by tragedy and rebellion, attempts to return to Eden.
