Dobri Dobrev graduated in the Art Academy in Prague (1925). In the period 1929—1936 he lived and worked in the Czech Republic. He visits Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Brussels, London, etc. In 1937 he returned to Bulgaria and in 1954 he became a lecturer at the National Academy of Art, Sofia. Between 1923 and 1971 he made 50 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and Czech Republic. He works in the field of painting and drawing in the genres: portrait, landscape, household and figure composition. His favorite topics are the markets and landscapes of his hometown. His paintings are the property of the National Galleries in Sofia, Prague and Bratislava, City galleries in Pilsen, Brno and Hradec Kralove, as well as a number of private collections in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, USA, Spain, Japan, etc.
