   As Chief of Staff of the Soviet Army, general Georgy Zhukov (1896—1974) was fully responsible for planning the war, for training commanders and troops, for equipment with military staff and arms, for reconnaissance of probable adversaries, and for developing of decisions leading to victories on the battlefield.
