1968: The smashing of Prague Spring

The book represents a documentary study about the events in Prague in the spring of 1968 based on archival documents, journals, publications, memoirs, interviews in Czech, Slovak, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Hungarian, German and Bulgarian sources. The book analyses both the events in Czechoslovakia itself, as well as those in the USSR that resulted in the aggressive actions of the Russian authorities and the occupying troops. Large-scale propaganda has been described before, during and after the invasion. In a separate part the parallel development of the events in the People's Republic of Bulgaria are analyzed, as well as the direct participation of the two “brotherly” Bulgarian regiments in the occupation. The author is a historian, journalist and writer. In 1968 he was a student in Prague and was an immediate witness to events during the Prague Spring and the intervention of the Warsaw Pact.
