The autograph in the literary life and intellectual-creative communication
Автографът в литературния живот и духовно-творческото общуване
Category: Bulgarian literature
The autograph is a relatively late phenomenon in the Modern Bulgarian literature. In the last decades of the 19th and the first of the 20th century, the autograph found a wide presence in the form of gift inscriptions on personal, family and general photographs — an occurence that has almost completely disappeared in our time. In the writers' circles and in the communication with the readers, however, it acquires the clearest, institutionally legitimizing character. The book illustrates the path taken by the autograph in modern and contemporary Bulgarian literature from 19th century to the present days. The publication is a kind of "anthology" — it includes gift inscriptions from the National Revival period (ca. 80—85 copies), from the post-liberation period (over 50 copies), and over 700 — related to the literary life of the second half of the 20th and the beginning 21st Century.
