Zhivko Zhekov. Cives et milites
Categories: Ancient Rome
Language: Bulgarian
The emergence and development of ancient Roman statehood is carried out in specific conditions that largely predetermine its entire history. Located on the border between three major ethno-linguistic substrates, Rome is doomed to a permanent military confrontation with its neighbors. Its survival is possible only with the organisation and development of an effective and combat-ready military organization. The realization of this task is the primary goal of the Romans throughout the existence of their state. The purpose of this monograph is to trace how Roman society changed during the early stages of its existence.
