In this volume the author has covered in detail the history and archaeology of the ancient city of Odessos during the period of Late Antiquity: in this case the 4th to early 7th centuries AD. It is based on ancient written sources concerning this important ancient polis located on the Western Black Sea coast, as well as on a range of archaeological, epigraphic and numismatic material — both published and unpublished — which have been discovered in the city and in the region around it. The book consists of eight chapters with a few introductory words, a general preface and a short epilogue, and it is illustrated with numerous photographs, maps and plans throughout. At the back of the volume there is an extensive bibliography in various languages of the articles and books which were used in the preparation of text.
