Panov, Alexander. Text as social action
Текстът като социално действие
Category: Literary criticism
Language: Bulgarian
How does literature affect and what is its role in human life? A question with a seemingly easy answer. Even ancient people knew that the Word helps them to make the world they live in a little nicer, friendlier, more human. However, exactly how this happens remains unclear. Is the Word only an inspiration, and the real actions of improving the world come later? Or can the Word itself be seen as a real social action? Some time ago, this question overturned the science of language, and now it is about to do the same to literary studies. We now realize that reading is not a passive process, but an active interaction between two consciousnesses, without which the literary text cannot acquire meaning. However, it is not clear how the interaction between human minds takes place. Literary science therefore works hard to create the methodology of this new approach and to propose new interpretive procedures, after the application of which familiar works reveal unsuspected meaning. The texts in the book try to answer some of the questions posed by the new development of literary studies. But also to propose new paradigms of iconic works from Bulgarian literature, which overcome established critical clichés and rethink their artistic messages.
