The monograph is devoted to the history, specificity and aesthetics of Islamic art in the context of Hadith and Sufism. In Chapter One, "Images of Animals," animal species are discussed hierarchically: from the most common to the less common. The material included in Chapter Two, 'Images of Humans', is examined with a view to its belonging to applied and pictorial art. The materials are presented on an ethnic basis, as belonging to Arab, Persian and Ottoman art. The textual part of the study is illustrated with 179 mainly colour illustrations.
