The book is published on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of the largest conflict in human history. It traces Bulgaria's participation in the war against Germany in 1944-1945 - from diplomatic manoeuvres and combat actions to the role of propaganda and cultural life in mobilising the nation. Special emphasis is placed on the impact of successful military operations on our country's position at the Paris Peace Conference and the treaty of 10 February 1947. The authors reveal new perspectives and little-known facts from the period. The result is a thorough but accessible account of a complex historical moment in which the whole of Bulgarian society was put to the test and found the strength to respond.
